Fuel Up For Finals

Hey PORT Bloggers,

Tomorrow is the last day of FHS mid-terms, which means the end of our annual "Fuel Up For Finals" week. It's been a great time so far with free coffee, lots of snacks, and quality study breaks to watch the inauguration and The Price is Right. If you haven't stopped by already this week, make sure you come in tomorrow! We'll be here from 10:00-6:00 to hang out, watch a little tube, play some Playstation, and just chill after a busy week.

Special thanks this week to our supporters from Dominos Pizza in Yarmouth, When Pigs Fly Bread Co., and Starbucks Coffee Company in Freeport!

Hey PORT Crew,

First of all, a special announcement for all you middle school students out there. This Monday, January 19th, The PORT will be open for students in grades 6-8 from 12:00pm-4:00pm. Come by after you've finished your service projects to play pool or ping pong, grab a snack, or hang out with your friends. Also, for Monday only, we'll be able to play Nintendo Wii on the big screen. Don't miss it!

We also wanted to remind everyone about Fuel Up For Finals January 20th-23rd. The PORT will be opening at 10:00am every day during mid-terms week, and we'll have free coffee donated by Starbucks! We'll also have a variety of food available for a low price, and a designated quiet room for a great space to study. Come by any time to de-stress, hang out, or work on your mid-term projects.

Next week is going to be a busy one at The PORT. We're looking forward to seeing you guys there!

Where my bloggas at?

Hey guys and girls,

Matt here, just getting things ready for FUEL UP FOR FINALS. I'm sure you all know when the finals week starts (January 20th), but did you know that after you get done with your finals each day The PORT will be open early? Beginning at 10 AM each day The PORT will open it's doors to all of the tired and weary test takers of Freeport. Stop by for some Starbucks Coffee, Domino's Pizza, Dunkin' Donuts bagels, and a relaxing environment. The selection of food and drinks will change slightly each day, but the awesome PORT atmosphere remains the same. Sarah and I hope to see you all there!

P.S. If you need me to look at any English papers for some last minute help, feel free to bring them by!

Trailblazers Date Change

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe that vacation is already over, but I hope that everyone had a happy holidays and that you're returning to school refreshed from the break.

I just wanted to update everyone on our Trailblazers program for grades 6-8 this month. In order to give more time for people to sign up, we've decided to postpone the start date and add two new days for "Composing Comics". Trailblazers for January will now be on the 13th, 15th, 26th, and 27th after school. PORT staff will provide transportation via van from FMS to the teen center for participants on each of those days.

And January Trailblazers is going to be awesome! We're very excited to welcome local author Anne Sibley O'Brien to lead us in a series of workshops on "Composing Comics". If you're interested in drawing or creative writing, this will be a great chance to explore the elements of story and to learn how to translate those ideas into drawings. Each participant will come away from the program with a finished comic page. Don't miss it -- call 865.6171 or swing by 17 West St. to sign up this week!

See you soon,
Sarah
